Stable temperature control depends on the entire loop: measurement, controller setup, output stage and process response.
Measure accurately
Sensor type, range, response time and installation directly influence control performance. The sensing point should represent the process condition the system needs to regulate.
Choose the control strategy
Simple on-off control suits some applications. PID control can improve stability where tighter regulation is required, provided the loop is configured for the process dynamics.
Size the output stage
Relays, solid-state relays and power controllers should be selected for the connected load and switching duty. Protection, heat dissipation and wiring practices must also be considered.
Verify the complete loop
Commissioning should confirm sensor polarity, input configuration, output behavior, alarm limits and safe response to a sensor fault.
